Poulomi Chatterjee began her career in publishing in Macmillan India Ltd in 2000. After an eight-year stint in Penguin Books India between 2002 and 2010, during which in addition to her editorial responsibilities she managed the rights and contracts departments, she joined Hachette India, where she is presently Editorial Director of the adult and business division. Through her career in publishing Poulomi has acquired and edited the works of a variety of authors across genres, and has enjoyed working with some of the most talented Indian writers writing in English.
In a challenging time for publishing, when both medium and market are in a flux, Poulomi firmly believes that exciting things are ahead for the Indian publishing industry – there are more writers experimenting with different genres and more channels of making good writing accessible, which cannot but, eventually, attract more readers and create a sustained, evolving reading culture.
