Arshia Sattar has been working with Sanskrit texts for the last 30 years, specifically with the epics and story traditions of South Asia. Her translations of Valmiki’s Ramayana and the selections from the Kathasaritsagara are widely known and appreciated. She writes about and teaches classical Indian literatures here and abroad.
Arshia co-founded and runs Sangam House, a residency program for writers from India and across the world. She also conceived and runs the Yali program for translation which mentors younger translators and nurtures translations across Indian languages.
